Project: The Old Gardens, Twickenham

Architect: Quinlan & Francis Terry Architects

Built: 2010 - 2011

Value: £1.4 million

Brief description

A new residential property by Quinlan & Francis Terry Architects with the front and back facades having iconic porticos. The fabric consisted of a Massangis Roche Clair plinth and sub-plinth, with Anstrude Roche Clair ashlar, quoins, windows, columns, doors, pediments, and cornice.

The interior had a Portland Perryfield cantilever staircase going from basement to the first floor, with an interesting 4 step feature that passed by a window, thereby offering no obvious method of support for the staircase. As usual, all problems were resolved by Ketton Stone and the project was delivered on time and within budget.
