Brief description:

Private residence for Viscount Rothermere. Built out of local Chilmark stone and Portland rusticated ashlar. Inside, the basement and ground floor were paved with Portland and the main staircase from ground to second floor was a solid cantilever staircase made from Portland stone. Outside the building, the terrace staircases lead to the house from the North and South. They were made from solid York sandstone with Portland balustrades. The gardens and other doorways to the house used substantial amounts of York stone for steps, ramps, retaining walls, and garden features
